有人为国家死，为爱人死，为家庭死，为财死，为朋友死，为战友死，但是却没有人为罪人死，除了基督耶稣之外。
祂死前已经知道自己的命定，已经知道自己必须要死，并且是为罪人而死。神的大爱就此显明了。没有比这更大的。
为一个罪人死，坏人死，是不是觉得不值得呢？罪人坏人不是死有应得，活该受报应下地狱吗？为什么还要拯救他们？我想这就是人性和神性之间的区别了。人看罪行神看的只是罪本身。主耶稣对钉死他的兵丁说“父啊，赦免他们！因为他们不知道自己在做什么。” 所以罪人犯罪存在极大的无知，大部分被私欲的引诱渐渐变坏，迷失自我，被那恶者利用吞吃，害人害己。
主耶稣的舍己是有目的的，是为了我们还活着的人籍着祂的死来脱离罪和罪的审判，对于我们这些本来不配得的罪人，偏偏白白得来这份救恩，这是多么大的恩典啊，难道不应该感恩吗？
